- Tell us about your compliance career journey? I spent almost 15 years with Intermountain Healthcare, and through various positions at the corporate office and on the front lines in hospital pharmacy leadership roles, I learned the importance if maintaining compliance with expectations from government, payors, vendors, and customers. In 2013, I decided to focus on one of the more complex compliance areas, the 340B program.
- What are your tips on staying informed & effectively disseminating news, given the ever-changing health care landscape? I feel you need a multi-pronged approach. Participate and sign-up for updates in your specific area of compliance focus, and become an expert in that area. Utilize both print and other media, podcasts can often provide unfiltered views and sharing that print media can’t. Finally, conferences, one of the best tools is meeting in person with like minded people who are focused in the same areas of compliance as you are.
- What does the future of health care compliance look like for you? For me, it is to further my knowledge and expertise in 340B and other related compliance subjects. It is in the nuances and gray where compliance is most difficult, and I hope to provide that expertise service where it is needed.
- If somebody googled you, what would they not find out about you? Google is pretty good, not much on my earlier years. I was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. I did not leave the state until after I graduated high school.
