The chapter would like to congratulate Joanne Becotte on completing her recent HFMA certification. We recently checked in with Joanne to hear about her certification experience.
HFMA: Where do you work and what is your role?
Joanne: I am a Senior Associate for Authorization at BAYADA Home Health Care.
HFMA: When did you first join HFMA?
Joanne: I joined in December 2023 to gain more knowledge about revenue cycle so I could be better prepared to reduce denials for my organization while also working more efficiently.
HFMA: What certification did you recently receive and why did you decide to pursue certification?
Joanne: I received the CRCR certification. I decided to pursue this certification as part of my 2024 employee goals because I wanted to grow professionally and develop new skills.
HFMA: Have you leveraged the knowledge you gained through the certification process in your job? If so, how?
Joanne: Yes, I have leveraged the knowledge I gained by working more closely with the reimbursement office at BAYADA. It’s nice because I am able to more easily step outside of my authorization role and collaborate with colleagues in the finance division.
HFMA: What is your favorite thing about being a member of HFMA?
Joanne: I love how much information is provided to members to support them on their revenue cycle journey. Because of that, I definitely intend to pursue other certifications.
HFMA: Any advice you would offer to someone considering pursuing a certification with HFMA?
Joanne: While the volume of information may seem overwhelming at first, you are able to go at our own pace, so there really is no pressure.
HFMA: Anything else we should know about you?
Joanne: I am originally from eastern Massachusetts and it’s still my wicked favorite place!
Congratulations, Joanne, and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
