The chapter would like to congratulate Colin Biggs on completing your recent HFMA certification. We recently checked in with Colin to hear about his certification experience.
HFMA: Where do you work and what is your role?
Colin: I am a Manager in Healthcare Advisory at RSM US LLP.Â
HFMA: When did you first join HFMA?
Colin: I joined HFMA in 2018 because I wanted to enhance my knowledge and network within the healthcare finance industry.
HFMA: What certification did you recently receive and why did you decide to pursue certification?
Colin: I recently received the CHFP certification. I decided to pursue this certification because I wanted to expand on my business and financial skills in the context of healthcare delivery. I believe this will help me be a more effective advisor to CFOs and other financial leaders of prominent healthcare providers.
HFMA: Have you leveraged the knowledge you gained through the certification process in your job? If so, how?
Colin: Yes, I’ve used this knowledge when communicating the financial opportunities associated with potential projects.
HFMA: What is your favorite thing about being a member of HFMA?
Colin: My favorite thing about being a member of HFMA is the opportunity to connect with industry professionals and stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in healthcare finance.
HFMA: Any advice you would offer to someone considering pursuing a certification with HFMA?
Colin: My advice would be to take full advantage of the resources and networking opportunities HFMA provides. The organization has the knowledge available to fast-track your career, and the networking events they provide are the most efficient way I’ve found to build solid contacts in the industry. Plus, they are usually pretty fun!
HFMA: Anything else we should know about you?
Colin: I love getting outdoors, whether it’s hiking, skiing, biking, or anything else. This spring and summer I look forward to exploring trails in the White Mountains with my wife and dog!
Congratulations, Colin, and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
