HFMA: Where do you work and what is your role?
Allan: I am currently employed at MaineGeneral Health as a Senior Financial Planning Analyst. In this role, my responsibilities include financial analysis and planning to support the organization’s financial health and strategic initiatives.
HFMA: When did you first join HFMA?
Allan: I joined HFMA in December 2022. The decision to join HFMA was influenced by the recommendation of a former colleague from the financial services sector who had successfully transitioned into the healthcare industry as a financial consultant.
HFMA: What certification did you recently receive and why did you decide to pursue certification?
Allan: I recently obtained a certification in CSAF, prompted by the requirements of my current position at MaineGeneral Health. This certification and the others previously completed have played a crucial role in aligning my skills with the demands of the healthcare industry.
HFMA: Have you leveraged the knowledge you gained through the certification process in your job? If so, how?
Allan: The knowledge acquired through the certification process has proved invaluable in my day-to-day responsibilities. The certifications have facilitated a smooth transition from the financial services sector to the healthcare industry. I am now equipped to apply industry-specific insights and conduct analyses that contribute to informed decision-making within my role.

HFMA: Anything else we should know about you?
Allan: Before joining MaineGeneral Health, I worked at BNY Mellon, where I initially served as a fund accountant before progressing to the role of a business intelligence analyst. This diverse experience has enriched my skill set and contributed to my adaptability in different financial roles.
