Blog: Where do you work and what do you do?
Dhara: I’m a Healthcare Consulting Leader at Paul Hastings LLP.
Blog: How long have you been a member of HFMA?
Dhara: 8+ years
Blog: What is your favorite HFMA event?
Dhara: The Annual Compliance Conference, which in recent years has expanded and grew through collaboration with the New England Healthcare Internal Auditors (NEHIA) organization and the Women’s Leadership Conference.
Blog: What is your favorite HFMA memory?
Dhara: My first volunteer experience at the December 2015 Compliance Conference. This was my second time attending this annual compliance education program and I really enjoyed meeting industry leaders and committee members and inspired by their dedication to the Chapter. Shortly thereafter, I made the decision to formally join the Compliance Committee. One of the best decisions in my HFMA membership journey!
Blog: How has HFMA impacted your career?
Dhara: Being part of HFMA, specifically the MA-RI Chapter, has opened the doors to many networking and leadership opportunities. I did not realize the full potential and value of my membership until I got involved with our Chapter through the Compliance Committee. After a couple of years of being involved as a member/co-chair of the Compliance Committee, I was welcomed to serve on the Board of Directors and in 2022, I entered the officers’ track as Treasurer. I am honored to represent our member-driven organization and chapter.
Blog: What are you excited about this year for HFMA?
Dhara: I am excited to get back to our in-person events. I am looking forward to meeting our new members and reconnecting with existing members.
Blog: What are some of your favorite HFMA resources that new members should be aware of and tap into?
Dhara: There are many, but here are some that I would recommend to any new/existing members:
- Attend Chapter hosted educational / networking events (Upcoming opportunities include our Revenue Cycle Conference and Women’s Leadership Conference
- Explore volunteer opportunities through various Chapter Committees
- Contribute to the Chapter Blog
- Get certified!
Most importantly, reach out to any member of the Board of Directors and/or Committee Chairs to learn more about our National and Chapter resources. We would be happy to connect with you.
Blog: Anything we should know about you?
Dhara: I love to travel… Luckily, so does my husband, Gaurang, and our kids, Gyan (7) and Vyan (4.5). We have done many international trips together and both kids are ready to be future pilots! Our most recent international trip included a visit to India and Singapore. We traveled to many different cities within India and truly enjoyed meeting our family and friends.
