Chapter presidents and presidents-elect from across the country gathered in Chicago on October 16-18 for the Volunteer Leadership Meeting. Karen Kinsella and Kim Carlozzi represented the MA-RI Chapter. In between presentations focused on enhancing value for individual members, enterprise members and Chapter sponsors, there was plenty of time to share best practices through table discussion and open group discussion. The Chapter Leaders are passionate about HFMA and it showed in the enthusiastic participation.
This meeting also provided time for the MA-RI Chapter to connect with the Northern New England and Connecticut Chapters. Together, we represent HFMA’s Region 1. Also in attendance was Deborah Wilson, CEO from Lawrence General, the region’s newest Regional Executive representing our local MA-RI Chapter. During our time together, initial plans were made for the Region 1 meeting.
Association leadership provided an opportunity to review the Chapter Success Award process. Each Chapter is allowed a single submission in one of three categories: Innovation, Engagement and Value. Coming off a big win last year for our innovative partnership with New England Healthcare Internal Auditors to jointly present the Compliance & Internal Audit Conference, the leadership team will be preparing our 2023 submission by the deadline of March 1.
The Region 1 delegation also left time for some fun. The weather cooperated for a spectacular sunset from the Chicago 360 Observation Deck, 1000 feet above the Magnificent Mile. We also went in for the TILT experience. The glass wall tilts forward away from the building to expand the view of the city from the 94th floor.
For some advance planning, HFMA provided upcoming dates for national events:
Leadership Training Conference: April 16-18, 2021 in San Antonio
National Revenue Cycle Meeting: March 8-10 in Phoenix and
Annual Conference: June 25-28 in Nashville.
