Committee Chair Series: Dhara Satija, Compliance

By | March 3, 2022

In a new series, we will be featuring the co-chairs of our chapter’s many committees. First up, Dhara Satija, a Director at Paul Hastings and the Chair of the Compliance Committee. Below is an interview we recently conducted with Dhara.

What in particular attracted you to this committee?

Our diverse group of compliance, risk, and internal audit professionals who are interested in collaborating to host educational programs and partner with each other to share and learn from collective experiences/expertise.

What is your committee working on these days?

We are currently recruiting volunteers to join our Compliance Committee. We are planning to kick-off our 2022 events planning meetings starting in the spring. Our current proposed plan for 2022 includes hosting one virtual educational webinar, publishing a couple of blogs on current/upcoming compliance hot topics, and partnering with the New England Healthcare Internal Auditors (NEHIA) to host a joint compliance and internal audit conference in December 2022.

How has your committee flexed and adjusted due to COVID?

Since the start of COVID in 2020, the committee collaborated to think outside the box to host educational programs for our members. We hosted a couple of education webinars in 2020 and 2021, along with collaborating with another local industry organization, NEHIA, to host a joint compliance and internal audit conference virtually in December 2020 and in-person in December 2021. Despite the COVID related challenges, we had great participation on our virtual and in-person events. We thank our members, speakers, participants, and sponsors for making our events successful!

In 2022, we will continue to be creative with bringing the relevant program for our members. We appreciate our members’ support and flexibility as we continue to manage through these times.

How can people who are interested get involved in your committee?

Please contact me (Dhara Satija @ dharasatija@paulhastings.com) and/or our HFMA Admin team at admin@ma-ri-hfma.org. We are always looking for volunteers so please reach out anytime of the year. We welcome your interest, feedback and support.

Thank you, Dhara, for your leadership!
