In Memory of Past President Harold E. Steeves
July 23, 1936 – February 18, 2020
With great sadness, we are writing to inform you of the loss of our beloved Past President Harold E Steeves on February 18, 2020. Harold was president of the HFMA MA-RI Chapter from 1978-1980 and a fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and had a long career as a healthcare financial management professional.
Harold joined St. Ann’s Hospital in Fall River in 1975 after being at Newton Wellesley Hospital for 10 years. Harold was with St. Ann’s for 25 years, serving as Vice President of Finance for more than fifteen years. He mentored three employees to CFO positions and one to CEO. Prior to Newton Wellesley Hospital, Harold worked for Beth Israel Hospital and a small accounting firm. After St. Ann’s, Harold joined the home care industry, working with the regional VNA organizations, before finishing his career on the Cape working as a consultant.
Harold is survived by his wife Ethel (Greene) Steeves and two daughters: Karen Dainty (and her husband Jon) and Cindy Fox (and her husband Jim); two brothers: Ronald Steeves and Robert Steeves; and a sister Muriel Casper and two grand-daughters: Nicole Hedden and Stephanie Fox. He was predeceased by a brother, Seymour J. Steeves Jr. Harold also served in the US Army and is a US Army veteran.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. A calling hour will be held prior from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Burial will be private.
