News from National: Seeking Volunteer Manuscript Reviewers

By | October 16, 2018

HFMA is highly dedicated to providing its members and readers of hfm with expert insight and practical guidance regarding all matters germane to healthcare finance within the U.S. healthcare system. The editors of hfm rely on the perspectives of reviewers who have special expertise in the various areas of healthcare finance to help in determining whether articles submitted for publication in hfm are of sufficient quality to merit acceptance, and to inform the editing of articles that are accepted.

We are looking for qualified healthcare finance professionals who are interested in volunteering some time to review manuscript submissions that meet minimum standards for consideration. Topics covered include:

  • Accounting and reporting
  • Finance and business strategy
  • Legal and regulatory compliance
  • Operations management
  • Payment, reimbursement and managed care
  • Revenue cycle
  • Technology

Volunteer reviewers earn one Founder’s Point per article reviewed and recognition in hfm magazine.

If you are interested or have any additional questions you can reach the new publications coordinator, Jennifer Novoseletsky at jnovoseletsky@hfma.org. Please include:

  • Your name and title/designation
  • Email(s)
  • Phone numbers
  • Your resume or any other indication of your qualifications to provide expert review in an area of healthcare finance
  • Any of the above categories in which you have expertise

Once you are accepted as a reviewer, you will be in line to periodically receive manuscripts, with a form to complete and a deadline of typically two to three weeks. Occasionally, we may request a fast-track review of an article that requires a one-week—or possibly a two-day—response. And at times when the volume of manuscripts in consideration is particularly large, we may ask you to review two articles in succession (at your convenience), but we never will ask you to review more than one article at a time. If at any time, you must decline a request to review an article, we understand, and ask only that you notify Jennifer that you will be unable to perform the review. We value our reviewers’ expertise and hope that you can participate!
